After losing Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson to the Los Angeles Rams, the Kansas City Chiefs are bringing back a cornerback who has spent four seasons with the team.

According to Adam Schefter, posted via X, the Chiefs are signing L’Jarius Sneed for a one-year deal worth $5 million as per Sneed’s agent, the Katz Brothers.

Sneed returns to the Chiefs, who drafted him in the fourth round in 2020, and won two Super Bowls with the team. But in 2024, Kansas City traded him to the Tennessee Titans for a 2025 third-round pick and a swap of 2024 seventh-round picks.

Sneed didn’t like the trade at first and expressed his “bitter and angry” emotions toward the Chiefs, who were like his “first love.”

The 29-year-old struggled to stay healthy during his time in Tennessee. After signing a four-year, $76 million contract with the Titans, Sneed appeared in just 12 games in two seasons due to his injury and off-field issues.

He played seven games last year, recording 26 tackles and three passes defended before a quad injury landed him on injured reserve for the final 10 games of the season.

The Titans released Sneed in March, creating $11.4 million in salary cap savings. His return to the Chiefs can help in reshaping the secondary, adding rookie Mansoor Delane and veterans Kader Kohou and Kaiir Elam under defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.

But the signing started a debate in Schefter's comment section.

Chiefs Kingdom Divided Over Sneed Reunion

The reaction was mixed, from sarcasm to excitement, as fans discussed Sneed's injury history against his success in Kansas City.

"Washed up more than my laundry,” one fan wrote on X.

"Did they get the washed discount?" another fan joked.

Whereas others questioned how much impact Sneed can provide after appearing in limited action over the past two seasons.

"Well, at least they have their 3rd string CB on the roster now," a fan wrote.

Several comments reflected frustration over changes in the secondary after McDuffie's departure to the Rams.

"Till sad about Trent, but this will do," X user wrote in disappointment.

Not everyone viewed the signing negatively. Some supporters pointed to Sneed's history with the team and the success he enjoyed in Kansas City.

"Funny how 'letting him go' suddenly becomes a mistake years later,” a supporter wrote.

"L’Jarius Sneed returns to KC,” a user tweeted with hope. “The last time Sneed wore a Chiefs jersey, Kansas City won a Super Bowl. Now he’s back where he made his name."

One of the strongest analyses came from a fan who viewed the reunion as much more than a depth move.

"L'Jarius Sneed returning to Kansas City is the football equivalent of finding out your ex, who actually treated you right, is single again,” a fan commented. “The Chiefs' defense fell apart without him last season, looked like a completely different unit, and now Brett Veach just walked into the room with the one player who makes everything click. This is not a reunion, this is a rescue mission."

Can Sneed turn this reunion into one of the NFL's best comeback stories of 2026? Let us know in the comments.
