A former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver is going forward in his next destination after being spotted working out with the New York Giants on Monday.

After impressing during the morning session with the team, JuJu Smith-Schuster signed a one-year deal with the team, NFL insider Mike Garafolo reported the news via X.

“The #Giants add another veteran WR: The team is signing JuJu Smith-Schuster after today’s workout, sources tell me and @RapSheet”, Garafolo tweeted. “Added today: Odell Beckham, Braxton Berrios, Smith-Schuster.”

The signing could be even more beneficial for the Giants because of offensive coordinator Matt Nagy’s relationship with Smith-Schuster. Nagy spent over five years with the Chiefs and was the team's offensive coordinator from 2023 to 2025, when Smith-Schuster was also a part of the roster.

The Giants' WR room was lacking depth, with Malik Nabers recovering from a knee injury from the last season. Gunner Olszewski also suffered a torn Achilles tendon during practice last week. Not only that, Darius Slayton is dealing with a sports hernia

Smith might fill the role of Darius Slayton, bringing a new approach to that position. While he is not known for his high speed, the receiver, with nine years of experience, finds soft spots in zone coverage and even contributes as a blocker in the run game.

With a receiving success rate of 56.7%, he has recorded 481 receptions and 5,624 receiving yards. Berrios could take up Olszewski's place, and Beckham can go for Nabers' spot. With Smith-Schuster now in New York, the Chiefs have one less experienced receiver on their roster.

Kansas City's Search for WR Depth May Lead to Cleveland

The Kansas City wide receiver unit is lacking, which needs to be addressed before the upcoming season.

According to KC Kingdom, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy is a potential target for the Chiefs, with the former first-round pick, who could provide support to a receiving group that lacks depth behind Xavier Worthy.

At the WR position. Rashee Rice's availability is unclear, and JuJu Smith-Schuster signed with the New York Giants. This leaves Kansas City relying completely on Worthy as their battle-tested WR.

Jeudy can be an impactful player when used in the right role. In the 2024 season, he recorded 90 receptions for 1,229 yards and four touchdowns for Cleveland. At 27, he could offer Kansas City a reliable option alongside Worthy.

The Browns have added young receivers in recent years, which could make some veterans go if the team shifts its focus toward the future.

How do you think the Chiefs will manage to hold the power at the wide receiver unit with the uncertainty all over? Let us know!
