Travis Kelce is coming back for his 14th season in the NFL, but before he takes the field, he stepped into a major entrepreneurship deal right in his hometown.

The Kansas City Chiefs' tight end purchased a minority stake in his native town's MLB franchise, the Cleveland Guardians.

The Cleveland Guardians are valued at $1.7 billion. During a conversation with  ESPN, Kelce shared his excitement.

"I have so much love for this city, I say it all the time: I'm just a kid from the Heights living the dream. I credit every good thing in my life to Cleveland and being raised here with the values and the people and the work ethic," Kelce said Wednesday.

Kelce always wanted to own a part of his favorite baseball club in Cleveland. But it’s not just about the business. He grew up watching the city’s baseball success in the 1990s, where, in his childhood, he traveled downtown with his father, Ed, to watch games as a fan.

"I've been lucky enough to have a front-row seat to good ownership in my career, and I know the best teams prioritize culture. Everyone is there to play their role, and right now, I'm here to observe and learn and really to support the team and the city when and where I can,” Kelce added.

However, Kelce is not the only athlete minority owner in MLB. His teammate, Patrick Mahomes, became a shareholder of the Kansas City Royals in July 2020 with 1% stake ownership.

Along with his business move off the field, Kelce focuses on another NFL season with the Chiefs.

Travis Kelce Balances Chiefs Commitments and Wedding Plans

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end's availability has been monitored after his wedding conversation dominated the headlines.

Travis Kelce signed a one-year, $12 million contract with the Chiefs in March.

His production dropped last season from 97 receptions in 2024 to 76, and he has not crossed 1,000 receiving yards in the past three years, which has increased talk about a possible retirement.

Recent reports link Kelce’s offseason schedule to his wedding preparations, raising doubts about his availability for the offseason programs.

But, as per ESPN's Nate Taylor, he did participate in the Tuesday OTA session, reflecting on his commitment towards his team.

"Although OTA practices are voluntary, Taylor notes other key players including tight end Travis Kelce, running back Kenneth Walker, and defensive tackle Chris Jones, were present on Tuesday," Jared Sapp of SB Nation wrote May 27.

According to Page Six, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding is set for July 3rd in New York.
