NFL training camps are underway, and the latest round of big contracts has changed the picture across several positions. With the salary cap now above $300 million per team, teams have more room to pay their biggest stars.

NFL contracts keep getting bigger, so here’s a look at the highest-paid at each position, ranked by average annual value. From quarterbacks to special teams, these are the players currently sitting at the top of their respective position groups.

10. Denzel Ward, Browns (CB)

Denzel Ward tops the cornerback at $31.1 million annually after his two-year, $62.2 million extension with the Cleveland Browns.

9. Jalen Carter, Eagles (IDL)

Jalen Carter leads interior defensive linemen at $38 million with the Philadelphia Eagles.

8. Will Anderson Jr., Texans (EDGE)

On the defensive side, Will Anderson Jr. stands out at $50 million per year with the Houston Texans.

7. George Kittle, 49ers (TE)

At tight end, George Kittle remains the leader at $19.1 million annually on his four-year, $76.4 million contract with the San Francisco 49ers, according to Front Office Sports posted on Instagram on August 10.

6. Jahmyr Gibbs, Lions (RB)

Jahmyr Gibbs now tops the running back market at $22.5 million per year. His three-year, $67.5 million deal with the Detroit Lions includes $51.5 million guaranteed.

5. Peter Skoronski, Titans (G)

For guards, Peter Skoronski leads the way at $25 million annually after agreeing to a four-year, $100 million extension with the Tennessee Titans that includes $88 million guaranteed.

4. Tyler Linderbaum, Raiders (C)

Tyler Linderbaum is next at center. The three-time Pro Bowler signed a three-year, $81 million contract with the Las Vegas Raiders.

3. Laremy Tunsil, Commanders (LT)

At left tackle, Laremy Tunsil sits at $30.1 million per year following his two-year, $60.2 million deal with the Washington Commanders, according to CBS Sports.

2. Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seahawks (WR)

Jaxon Smith-Njigba comes next among wide receivers at $42.15 million annually.

His 4-year, $168.8 million extension with the Seattle Seahawks followed a 2025 season in which he won the Super Bowl and Offensive Player of the Year award after leading the league with 1,793 receiving yards.

1. Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs (QB)

In the first position is Patrick Mahomes, who leads all quarterbacks at $63 million annually. The Kansas City Chiefs later agreed to an eight-year, $504.75 million deal through 2033. It made him the first player in NFL history with a contract worth more than $500 million.

The numbers continue to show how quickly the NFL’s contract market is changing.

With Mahomes preparing for another season, it is worth looking at where his contract ranks among the league’s highest-paid players.

Mahomes missed the second half of last season after tearing his ACL and LCL. He has spent the offseason rehabbing, but Nick Wright noted that there have been no setbacks or additional surgeries.

“I think [the Chiefs are] gonna have the healthier quarterback Week 1. Patrick didn’t have any setbacks. Patrick didn’t have any additional surgeries… I think Patrick is gonna rip it,” Wright said on First Things First on August 11.

The quarterback enters his 10th season with three Super Bowl titles and two MVP awards.

Kansas City is coming off a 6-11 season and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.

The Chiefs will open the 2026 season at home against the Denver Broncos on September 14.
