Patrick Mahomes is about to enter his 10th season, and fans are feeling nostalgic about how fast the time has passed.
As Mahomes continues his recovery and prepares for the upcoming season, the team's official account shared two side-by-side photos via X comparing his rookie-year appearance with how he looks entering his next NFL campaign.
“A decade with @PatrickMahomes,” their caption reads.
The quarterback who once had longer curls and a youthful look now enters his 10th season with three Super Bowl titles, five Super Bowl appearances, two MVP awards, and six Pro Bowl selections.
But the 2025 season was disappointing for the Kansas City Chiefs after the team missed the playoffs for the first time during Mahomes' tenure, while the quarterback suffered ACL and LCL injuries against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15.
After approaching his rehab well by working 7-8 hours daily, Mahomes has returned to limited on-field work during OTAs and is expected to be ready when the Chiefs open the 2026 season against the Denver Broncos on September 14.
However, the Chiefs' comment section was full of fans' reactions to their quarterback journey.
NFL Fans Get Emotional Over Mahomes' 10th Year Journey
The fans' reaction was a mix of disbelief, appreciation, and, in some cases, playful criticism as fans reflected on Mahomes' journey.
“It still feels like yesterday?! WYM TEN YEARS?!,” one X user wrote.
Several fans focused on the visual comparison shared by the Chiefs and pointed out how much Mahomes has matured since his rookie season.
“He looks like such a kid in Year 1. He looks better with age,” one observer wrote.
Others looked ahead and hoped the partnership between Mahomes and Kansas City would continue for another decade.
“May he have another 10 years with us. Let's have a dynasty longer than the Patriots',” another fan commented.
The quarterback's healthy return to offseason work even drew praise from supporters and rival fan bases.
“Glad Pat is healthy and looking sharp in camp, as a Rams fan, he's one of my non-Rams favorite QB'S in the nfl,” one fan posted with love.
Some reactions carried humor, connecting it with Kenneth Walker III's arrival in the Chiefs after the team struggled in their running game last season.
“That smile is wide, knowing he has a RB1,” one commenter joked.
Others viewed 2026 as an important season following the Chiefs' disappointing season with a 6-11 record.
“Big year for him to prove himself,” another user wrote.
But not every response was positive towards the quarterback.
“I wish he would retire so we can have the real NFL football back. Sick of this soft, no tackling to, hard, and no touching the quarterback garbage,” one critic wrote.
Still, there were plenty who showered the GOAT with lots of love, looking back at a wonderful decade.
“Seems like just yesterday he was showing us his skills…. Where has the time gone…These 10 years kinda have flown by for real…” another supporter added.
With a new season approaching and Mahomes set to return from injury, what will Year 10 bring for one of the NFL's most successful quarterbacks? Let us know!
