The Chiefs don't want to repeat the history of their 2025 season, where they failed to reach the playoffs after a decade.

Although the Chiefs are trying to find backups to make their offense stronger, it's important to find a veteran who can take up Mahomes' responsibility on his shoulders until he recovers.

According to the Fox Sports Reporter, Greg Auman, predicted that Russell Wilson would be a part of the Chiefs until Mahomes comeback in the field.

Auman stated, "His best scenario is likely a bridge starter who goes to a team with a young starter so they don't have to rush him."

The Chiefs struggled with their passing game last season, with 3,927 passing yards and 23 touchdowns. Although Wilson can add his impact on their game with his record of 831 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions in just 6 plays with the Giants.

If Wilson takes Mahomes' position temporarily, he will deliver stability to the Chiefs. His possible contract could be valued around $5.6M with the team, which is significantly half of the contract value with the Giants of $10.5 M.

However, By being a "stopgap" in Wilson's role with the Chiefs until Mahomes can be fully healed.
