A love story is now adding an unexpected twist to the connection between the Kansas City Chiefs and the New England Patriots as this year's round seven Chiefs' draft pick's sister recently got engaged to a Patriots tackle.
The Kansas City Chiefs ' rookie quarterback, Garrett Nussmeier’s sister, Ashlynn, got engaged to Patriots star Will Campbell on Saturday. She announced the news by sharing an Instagram story, standing next to her now fiancé and showing off her ring.
"ME & YOU FOREVER !!! 💍🥂," Nussmeier's story caption reads.

Meanwhile, the proposal happened over a Memorial Day weekend with an engagement party, along with Friends and family.
Ashlynn is the daughter of former QB Doug Nussmeier and the sister of Chiefs seventh-round pick Garrett Nussmeier.
While the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots are not divisional rivals, both teams still battle inside the AFC landscape every season.
Now, with Ashlynn engaged to Will Campbell, it adds another fascinating personal layer to the rivalry involving Garrett Wilson and the Patriots' rookie lineman.
But the story started at Louisiana State University (LSU) in 2024, where the Chiefs' rookie Garrett and Campbell were playing for the Tigers, and the brother became a matchmaker for this beautiful couple.
"In college, your brother will tell you that he thinks you and his teammate should talk. It's very important that you actually listen to his judgment and hang out," Ashlynn wrote over the TikTok video of her and Campwell.
Campwell shared his feelings about Ashlynn Nussmeier to US Weekly, adoring love for his fiancée, calling her amazing, with a football background, and truly understanding the sacrifices that come with the game. He even called her a “rock star” for always being there for him.
Even as the Nussmeier family enjoys a special moment, Garrett faces one of the biggest challenges of his NFL journey.
Garrett Nussmeier Pick by the Chiefs, With Doubts Still Surrounding Him
The Kansas City Chiefs brought in Garrett Nussmeier with talent, pressure, and the weight of being the No. 249 overall pick.
According to Heavy.com, the Kansas City Chiefs selected former LSU Tigers football quarterback Garrett Nussmeier in the seventh round, even though several teams once viewed him as a possible first-round talent.
With Patrick Mahomes recovering from a serious knee injury, Kansas City needed quarterback depth and took a gamble on Nussmeier’s potential.
While explaining Nussmeier’s unexpected draft slide, NFL insider Dane Brugler shared what may have changed the opinion about the young quarterback.
“He was the highest-graded senior by BLESTO scouting service," Brugler wrote. "However, an injury that never properly healed sidetracked his 2025 season, affecting his productivity and development."
Garrett had a dominating season in 2024 when he was healthy, recording 4,052 passing yards with 29 TDs, but last year his performance fell short with 1,927 yards and 12 TDs in just nine games.
Do you think that Garrett's performance in the upcoming season in Kansas City could turn one of the draft’s biggest slides into a long-term advantage? Let us know!
