Brittany Mahomes has officially joined the ranks of athletic legends. The wife of the Chiefs' quarterback was just inducted into the University of Texas at Tyler Athletics Hall of Fame, honoring a record-setting collegiate soccer career.
Congratulations included a post from Patrick Mahomes' mother, Randi, who praised her daughter-in-law on Instagram.
“So proud of our girl, @brittanylynne, for being inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame at @uttylerpatriots! Your hard work and heart never go unnoticed! Love you and cheering you on always,” Randi Mahomes' Instagram caption read.
Brittany Mahomes played for the Texas-Tyler Patriots women’s soccer team during her collegiate career. She recorded 31 goals and 78 total points (second-most in program history), and became the first player in program history to record 3 hat-tricks.
She put together the best single-season in program history, scoring 40 points, 18 goals, and 7 game-winning goals in 2016.
So, UT Tyler Patriots posted glimpses of the day on their Instagram handle, congratulating everyone as well.
“An incredible day of celebration!! Congratulations to UT Tyler Athletics Hall of Fame inductees Dr. Howard Patterson, Brittany Mahomes, and the 2016 Softball team,” the caption to the post read.
After college, Brittany signed with UMF Afturelding in Iceland’s second-tier women’s league and led the team to win the league championship. But she discontinued her pro career after only a single season to pursue a fitness career.
Brittany Mahomes is now a founding co-owner of the Kansas City Current in the NWSL. Recently, she also announced a special partnership after being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
