1-Month Old Chiefs Rumor Refuses to Fade Away

Some rumors of the NFL never truly go away, and the Kansas City Chiefs' reunion with a former Wide receiver could be one of them. Tyreek Hill is dominating discussions across the entire league. While the financial problems of getting the veteran pass catcher are certainly substantial, the offensive alignment perfectly addresses their current roster deficiencies.
As per the NFL Rumors page posted via X, “Chiefs are still the top landing spots for WR Tyreek Hill.”
Hill ranks among the NFL’s most productive receivers, with over 11,300 career receiving yards and 83 touchdowns. He spent his first six seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and was then traded to the Miami Dolphins in 2022, where he signed a four-year, $120 million extension that included $72.2 million guaranteed.
In February 2026, the Dolphins released him after a drop in production (265 yards and 1 touchdown in 4 games) during the 2025 season. The Week 4 game against the New York Jets ended his year as he suffered a dislocated left knee and a torn ACL.
Hill has publicly expressed a strong desire to return to Kansas City and “come home” to practice at Arrowhead Stadium. However, neither side has confirmed any agreement. Andy Reid acknowledged the team has discussed Hill’s situation, but emphasized no active contract conversations are happening.
The Chiefs lack a true No. 1 wide receiver or consistent big-play threat outside of Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice, who has had off-field/legal issues. It remains to be seen if Hill might be under consideration due to these reasons.
But the Chiefs are not the only team keeping eyes on Hill. There are others who might be a good fit for him.
Which Other Teams Can Hill Attract?
The market for Hill stretches well beyond any one team. Many playoff contenders are still hunting for that explosive missing piece to boost their offense.
The Los Angeles Chargers stand out as a possibility. Hill has said he prefers a warm-weather city if he does not return to the Chiefs. The Chargers run a run-first offense under Jim Harbaugh. Neither Ladd McConkey nor Quentin Johnston currently dominates targets, and veteran Keenan Allen (33) is getting older. This would give Hill a real chance to become their top passing option.
The Patriots offer another logical fit. With Stefon Diggs no longer on the roster, Hill could step into that spot. Patriots OC Josh McDaniels and young quarterback Drake Maye run a dynamic spread offense that could suit Hill’s speed and big-play ability.
At 32 years old, Tyreek Hill enters free agency as a diminished but still dangerous playmaker. His serious 2025 knee injury has raised major questions about his long-term speed and explosiveness, which have always defined his game. He will probably have to settle for a short, prove-it contract with limited guarantees while he finishes rehab.
