After a dismissed case in May, the NFL has now arrived at a decision regarding a Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach, Dave Merritt, following a league review.

NFL insider Mike Garafolo posted an update on the matter, revealing the NFL's decision not to suspend or penalize the coach.

"The NFL concluded its investigation of #Chiefs DBs coach Dave Merritt and found insufficient evidence of a violation of the personal conduct policy, sources say," Garafolo's X post read on June 12. "A Kansas district court dismissed misdemeanor DV charges last month. No discipline from the league as well."

Merritt's legal situation was resolved relatively quickly. After being charged in April and pleading not guilty, the case was dismissed the following month.

While the NFL can sometimes conduct its own review regardless of court proceedings, Merritt is currently free to continue his coaching career and return his focus to football.

Merritt's football record stretches far beyond the sidelines. A former NFL linebacker, he transitioned into coaching and built a reputation as one of the league's most respected defensive backs coaches.

The former defensive back was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the seventh round of the 1993 NFL Draft.

Since joining the Chiefs in 2019, Merritt has played a role in multiple championship runs and, including his time with the New York Giants, has been part of five Super Bowl-winning teams.

Merritt's coaching journey began in 2001 with the New York Jets before he embarked on a highly successful 14-year stint with the New York Giants.

After a one-year stop in Arizona, where he coached Patrick Peterson to another Pro Bowl selection, Merritt joined the Chiefs in 2019.

Reuniting with Steve Spagnuolo in Kansas City, after previous stops together with the Giants and the Arizona Cardinals, Merritt helped shape a physical and versatile secondary.

Over the years, he has helped maximize the abilities of stars such as Tyrann Mathieu, Trent McDuffie, and L'Jarius Sneed, turning Kansas City's secondary into a strength rather than a weakness.

Fast forward to now, and Merritt owns five Super Bowl rings as an NFL coach, winning two with the Giants in Super Bowls XLII and XLVI before adding three more during the Chiefs' dynasty.
