Maxx Crosby is back with the Las Vegas Raiders, but simply returning to the field is not enough for the star pass rusher. The All-Pro defender has now set his goals for something bigger.

During his appearance on the Raiders podcast, Crosby opened up about his views as he prepares for the upcoming season. After months of trade talks and a failed move to the Baltimore Ravens, he recommitted to the Raiders and is focused on achieving greatness.

"So a guy like Michael Jordan..." said Crosby on June 23. "Guys like him, or you know, guys that have done it at the highest level, because you could talk about it and guys could, you know, say they've been... where it's almost untouchable, and that's what I'm chasing every day."

During the podcast, Crosby mentioned that he is a huge basketball fan. And he is chasing a level of success where his name becomes as dominant as the legendary NBA player Michael Jordan.

Crosby has a close bond with Jordan. He even calls and texts the NBA legend to ask him questions, and sees his success as something that lasts forever.

That mindset has helped Crosby throughout his NFL career. Since entering the league in 2019, he has marked himself as one of the best edge rushers in football, earning multiple Pro Bowl appearances while becoming the anchor of the Raiders' defense.

As the star edge rusher recovers from his 2025 injury, he remains committed to Las Vegas and wants to help turn the team into a championship contender.

Moreover, Raiders HC Klint Kubiak and GM John Spytek have both publicly stated their wish to keep him as a cornerstone of the franchise, per ESPN.

However, even after minicamps, trade rumors continue to link Maxx Crosby to the Dallas Cowboys.

Maxx Crosby trade talks refuse to die after minicamp

During the offseason, Dallas was heavily involved in trade talks involving Maxx Crosby. The Raiders found Baltimore's offer more lucrative and decided to send their star edge rusher to the Ravens, which eventually fell through as well.

Fans continue to wonder whether the Raiders will revisit trade talks if the right offer comes up. However, according to ESPN's Dan Graziano, it is unlikely that the Cowboys would go for Crosby until they're convinced that he can make a successful comeback.

"I wouldn't expect Crosby trade talk to heat up again until he gets on a field and shows he's healthy," Graziano said. "And from everything I've been told, that could be in August or later."

The edge rusher suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee in October 2025, which left him out of the two final games of the season. He underwent surgery in January, but it was this injury that led to the trade with Baltimore falling through.

Following the unsuccessful deal with the Ravens, Crosby has returned to Las Vegas and resumed his practice, according to Sports Illustrated reporter Josh Sanchez.

For now, the rumors appear to be unreasonable with no negotiations. Additionally, the Raiders would likely seek a steeper price than what Dallas was willing to meet last time.
