Even after winning the Lombardi Trophy and peaking in his career, RB Kenneth Walker III found himself in a baffling situation. As a Super Bowl MVP, players mostly enjoy long-term security, but sadly, the same did not work for Walker.
During the 2025 NFL season, Walker figured out that his chances of continuing with the Seattle Seahawks were shrinking. Even after his remarkable performance in Super Bowl LX, the signs were clear by midseason. The injuries and increasing trust in the 25-year-old Zach Charbonnet showed a shift in team strategy, which led to his exit.
“I would say probably, if I’m being honest, probably like sometime during the season. You know, things ain’t working out how I was expecting to, and that’s all right. It worked out for the team. So sometime during the season, and then we get to free agency, pretty much knowing like you weren’t gonna be there no more,” said Walker while talking on the #PFTPM podcast
Walker delivered his best during Seattle’s postseason run, including the Super Bowl, while the Seahawks had already started planning for a future without him. The Chiefs acquired Walker with a three-year deal worth $43.05 million, including $28.7 million fully guaranteed.

“The team appreciates me over here and like being able to come somewhere there where you’re appreciated. I definitely feel like I’ll be getting the ball a lot, making plays, and, yeah, I'm excited for this season,” said Walker.
Now, it will be interesting to watch what Walker becomes and how he handles his role with the Chiefs.
Walker Set For Bigger Receiving Role With Chiefs
Kenneth Walker is now expected to expand his skill set and become a more versatile weapon in Kansas City’s offense. During his time with the Seattle Seahawks, he was not heavily used in that role.
Walker joined the Up & Adams show this Tuesday, giving his take on his future with the Chiefs.
"We've been working on getting connected in the passing game and everything, so that's good. I feel like I'll be used more in the pass game."
Adding Walker becomes more meaningful for Kansas City as quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ injury ended his last season. Mahomes may not be very mobile when he takes the field, and they need a solid RB for him to use.
If Walker successfully adapts, this transition can be a defining point of his career.
