With the 2026 NFL draft going by, the Kansas City Chiefs have still not come to terms with a new deal regarding long-term recruit Cameron Jordan. NFL sportscaster and FanDuel's Kay Adams urged the Chiefs camp to sign Jordan as soon as possible.
"I want to make my case here that he does, in fact, need to be a Kansas City Chief," Adams said. "Big year last year. I don't know what we're doing. 10.5 sacks last year."
Jordan is an eight-time Pro Bowler who had a great run with the New Orleans Saints from 2011 to 2025.
Jordan has recorded a franchise-best 117.5 career sacks during his time with New Orleans. He is the second Saint overall to record at least 7.5 sacks in nine different seasons.
But now he is treading into free agency.
"I know [the Chiefs] drafted R Mason Thomas in the second round, but you can't have too many of these, especially if you want to get back to greatness and win the Super Bowl," Adams added.
The Chiefs invested heavily in the trenches during the NFL Draft, taking Clemson defensive tackle Peter Woods with the 29th overall pick and Oklahoma edge rusher R Mason Thomas at No. 40. They also added veteran defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga on a three-year deal worth $21 million.

While George Karlaftis is firmly set as one of the Chiefs’ starting edge rushers, Ashton Gillotte currently projects to start opposite him more out of necessity than certainty.
Signing Jordan would add another reliable veteran to the rotation and ease the burden on Kansas City’s younger pass rushers as R Mason Thomas and Felix Anudike-Uzomah continue developing.
Kansas City stands a chance, while there is still no clarity from New Orleans.
Cameron Jordan Gives His Views On Rejoining New Orleans
Jordan is unsure about his return to the team, and the lack of communication has reportedly left him frustrated.
"I don't know," said Jordan. "There's nobody (the Saints acquired) who produced the way I did last year, so. My talent speaks for itself. And if things work out, phenomenal. I've always said I understand the business side to it, so I've never worried about it."
The Saints selected Jordan with the 24th overall pick in 2011, and he has been with them since then. Over the years, he has become both a leader in the locker room and a symbol of the black and gold.
New Orleans has added Tyree Wilson and Anfernee Jennings. So they appear to have enough depth in their pass-rush rotation even without bringing back Jordan. The defense also still heavily relies on Chase Young and Carl Granderson.
