Kansas City Chiefs Reportedly Linked With 25-TD Running Back

Mar 6, 2026, 6:51 PM CUT

A recent analysis from Matthew Berry has identified a prime destination for Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. The Kansas City Chiefs, who struggled in the run game last season, are reportedly a top landing spot for the former NCAA touchdown leader.

Berry stated, "Among the places I heard for Travis Etienne to land include New Orleans and Kansas City."

In the 2025 season, Etienne had the second-most receiving touchdowns by an RB (6) behind Christian McCaffrey. He recorded 1,107 rushing yards with an average of 4.3 per carry and 7 touchdowns. For the Chiefs, it could mean a big difference. Over his four years in the NFL, he's managed 25 touchdowns in total.

Last season, they struggled with an overall rushing of 1,812 yards with only 15 touchdowns, so adding Etienne could improve their team.

The main question is whether Etienne can truly elevate their struggling run game.

Who Else Could Step Up as the Chiefs’ Next Running Back Target?

According to General Manager Brett Veach, “Certainly, we want to get more explosive in the running game."

One of them can be Jeremiyah Love. Talking about the Chiefs, he said, “I’d be close to home.”

Moreover, he was one of the best running backs last season, with 1,372 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns on an average of 6.9 yards per carry. Moreover, his perfomance at the Combine was certainly impressive. He clocked in with 4.36 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

Nicholas Singleton is another option, posting 549 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns.
