The Kansas City Chiefs gave running back Kenneth Walker III a new locker room, new teammates and a fresh start, but one part of the transition appears to have come naturally.
In a post shared by NFL on FOX on Instagram, Kenneth Walker III opened up about his early experience with the Chiefs, highlighting the trust he has received from the team and the way its leaders have welcomed him.
“It means a lot, you know, it means that they trust me, you know, it’s good to feel that way. When we first came out we got the fourth down and, you know, we still ran the ball. So, you know, they trust the run game and they trust what we can do,” Walker said.

His experience with the Chiefs also began with an impression of the team’s leaders.
“That was surprising to see because these guys are successful on the field. But the way they carry themselves off the field is more impressive,” Walker said on the @NFL on Fox Instagram reel.
Walker’s comments came after an eye-catching debut for Kansas City in Week 1. The running back rushed for a career-high 173 yards and scored two touchdowns in the Chiefs’ 31-10 win over the Denver Broncos.
His rushing total was nearly three times his 60.4 rushing yards per game from the 2025 season with the Seattle Seahawks.
The fourth-down play Walker mentioned turned into another big moment, with the running back taking it 60 yards for a touchdown. According to the NFL, he finished the game with 191 total scrimmage yards.
Beyond the trust he felt on the field, Walker also appreciated how quickly he was accepted by the team.
“But they accepted me with open arms and, you know, I appreciate them for that,” Walker said.
Walker’s comments show how quickly he has settled into Kansas City. That early connection also drew love from Chiefs fans, who were quick to praise K9.
