"Get the Cheetah" Ex-NFL Star Urges Chiefs To Reunite With Former All-Pro WR

The possibility of All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill returning to Kansas City is once again generating buzz. But this time, the buzz is from a former NFL player who believes the Chiefs should seriously consider making it happen.

During his appearance on ESPN's Get Up, former NFL linebacker Bart Scott suggested that the Chiefs’ front office should pursue a reunion with Tyreek Hill, according to a recent X post shared by Sleeper Chiefs KC.

“I think they should make a call to a certain type of cheetah —you brought Bieniemy back, why wouldn’t you go out and go get the cheetah and put the band back together," Sleeper Chiefs' X post read on June 19. "Bart Scott on the #Chiefs signing Tyreek Hill with their current WR depth."

Scott’s claim has sparked attention due to Hill’s history with the franchise. Hill spent six seasons with the Chiefs and helped the franchise win Super Bowl LIV. His production led to one of the league's most explosive partnerships with Patrick Mahomes.

Scott also points out that the Chiefs'concern is around their receiving end.

Kansas City has invested heavily in younger options such as Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy. But questions remain about whether the group has enough proven production to support Mahomes for another Super Bowl push.

There is no doubt that the reunion would be popular among many Chiefs fans.

Hill remains one of the most accomplished players in franchise history, earning six Pro Bowl selections with Kansas City. With the Chiefs, he recorded 479 receptions, 6,630 receiving yards and 56 touchdowns.

Hill, who has $146.2 million in career earnings, was released by the Dolphins on February 22 to clear $22.6 million in salary cap space. His release came after suffering a serious knee injury during the 2025 season.

As the reunion talk continues, Hill's recovery remains a major factor in determining whether a deal makes sense.

Hill's Injury Recovery Could Complicate Any Reunion

The excitement surrounding a potential return to Kansas City is palpable. But the Kansas City Chiefs are being cautious in their approach.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid recently acknowledged that the organization is aware of Hill's availability but downplayed any active discussions about a reunion, as per Yahoo Sports.

"We go through everything and everybody (in free agency)," Reid said earlier this year. “That’s how (general manager) Brett (Veach) does (it). I don’t even know if Tyreek is healthy right now to do anything.”

Reid’s comments suggest that the Chiefs are monitoring the situation. But whether that interest eventually turns into action may depend on Hill's recovery.

Hill suffered a dislocated knee along with multiple ligament injuries last season. Before suffering the injury, he appeared in four games and recorded 21 receptions for 265 yards and one touchdown.

Many fans share Scott's call for the Chiefs due to Tyreek Hill’s bond with Mahomes. But that call is not enough for the Chiefs, as they will expect the same production that he showcased before the injury.
