The Kansas City Chiefs can rely on other wide receivers to fill the gap created by Rashee Rice’s off-field situation.

According to Dallas County court records, authorities ordered Rice to spend 30 days in j* after he tested positive for T**, with his release scheduled for June 16th. The Chiefs need to address his unavailability, and as per ESPN’s Louis Riddick, his absence can create a battle between the WRs.

“Once you get into the league, the round that you were drafted doesn't really matter. And between Cyrus Allen, Xavier Worthy, and Tyquan Thornton, you've got some burners right there.” Louis said.

The team wants to create more explosive plays around Patrick Mahomes. Worthy, a former first-round pick, aims for a bigger role after injuries affected his 2025 season.

Thornton is coming off a career year with 438 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Allen enters the league after leading the Big 12 with 694 scrimmage yards and 13 touchdowns at Cincinnati last season.

"And don't forget this name either. There's another guy from Cincinnati who they signed as an undrafted free agent named Jeff Caldwell," he continued.

Caldwell has an overall PFF grade for last season of 72.2, which made him rank 208th among 679 WRs.

"The Chiefs don't sleep on them. It may not look like they have some weapons right now, but with this renewed running game, and I'm telling you, Emari Demercado and Kenneth Walker together, along with EB calling plays," He added.

The Chiefs could lean more on their run game this season to ease Patrick Mahomes’ workload after he rushed 422 yards last year.

At the same time, one wide receiver keeps coming up in talks around the team.

Rashee Rice Situation Pushes Stefon Diggs Rumors Around Chiefs

Rashee Rice’s legal trouble has fueled the possibility that the Kansas City Chiefs could look for help at wide receiver before the season begins.

Speaking to SportsBoom while discussing the Chiefs’ current roster outlook, NFL insider Jason La Canfora discusses former Patriots WR.

“Multiple personnel execs from other teams told me they believe Diggs, while not a replacement for Rice’s explosion, would be a strong fit in Andy Reid’s offence as a secondary piece,” La Canfora said.

Rice was one of Patrick Mahomes’ most reliable targets when he was healthy, but injuries and off-field issues have limited him to just 12 games over the past two seasons.

Meanwhile, Diggs had his impact last year with the Patriots after recovering from a torn ACL. He finished last season with more than 1,000 receiving yards and could offer the presence the Chiefs might need.

What do you think the Chiefs will go for, Diggs, or will they trust the internal WR strength of the team? Let us know!
