Kansas City Chiefs offensive left tackle Josh Simmons appears to be changing opinions heading into his second NFL season.
During an appearance on YouTube Channel Chief Concerns, host Marcus Dash and former Chiefs star Jason Dunn had labeled Simmons a potential "bust" after an injury-plagued rookie campaign.
That opinion has now changed completely after Simmons spent the offseason working on his technique.
“I've been sold on this guy ever since I've seen him,” Dunn said. “Josh Simmons was the best left tackle in his draft class. If he didn't hurt his knee, he would have been the first tackle taken. No question about it,” Dunn added.

Simmons recently appeared on Brandon Thorne's podcast, where he detailed the work he has put in during the offseason. Later, he explained that he has been studying offensive tackles such as Dion Dawkins, Laremy Tunsil, Mitchell Schwartz, and Joe Thomas.
Dunn said Simmons' willingness to break down his own game stood out the most.
“When you're able to take an assessment and be critical of some of the things that you've done, and you're not comfortable in where you are, that is a recipe for greatness,” Dunn said.
Simmons became a focal point of criticism following his injury-stunted rookie campaign. But Dunn isn't buying into the concern, pointing to Simmons' offseason work as a sign that he's focused on getting better and making a bigger impact this season.

The former Chiefs TE Dunn also praised Simmons' athleticism, calling his footwork his greatest strength in the same podcast.
“His feet are incredible,” Dunn said. “He's such an athlete. The easiest thing that comes to him is staying in front of guys.”
Dunn also highlighted Simmons' high football IQ and drive to improve.
“He's breaking the bones of his own self down for what he did this past year and what he can do to get better,” Dunn said.
Simmons has also made a habit of asking for feedback on his performance, something Dunn sees as a strong sign that the young lineman is serious about improving and continuing to grow.
"He is the tackle of the future for us,” Dunn said. “Great pick for us. I believe this is going to be an All-Pro guy,” Dunn said.
With the 2026 season approaching, Simmons' development could play a big role in keeping the Chiefs' offensive line strong and giving Patrick Mahomes the protection he needs.
