The Kansas City Chiefs finished their three-day mandatory minicamp in Kansas City last week, giving a first real look at the full roster before training camp.
"I like the effort that they put forward... We had great attendance…" Head Coach Andy Reid said on the final day of the team's minicamp, as per Chiefs.com.
From QB Patrick Mahomes’ recovery to new playmakers stepping in, the sessions offered clear signs about where the team stands heading into July camp.
Here are five key takeaways from minicamp, as per Pete Sweeney of the Kansas City Star:
Patrick Mahomes Long-Term Commitment Remains
As Mahomes enters his 10th season with the Chiefs, his long-term contract remained a talking point during minicamp. The deal keeps Kansas City tied to its franchise quarterback through 2033 and reinforces the organization's commitment to building around him for years to come.
Mahomes' $64M average annual value is the highest in the league, surpassing Dak Prescott's $60M AAV. This makes him the highest-paid quarterback in the league.

Meanwhile, the step gave the locker room a clear direction as Mahomes enters his 10th NFL season. The Chiefs' star presence under a long-term deal sets the tone for everything they want to build next in the offense.
Injury Recovery Stays the Focus for Patrick Mahomes
Mahomes continues his recovery from a torn ACL and LCL suffered in Week 15 against the Los Angeles Chargers. He worked on individual drills and 7-on-7 sessions during offseason workouts but stayed out of full 11-on-11 action as a safety measure.
Head coach Andy Reid said Mahomes is on track to take part in some team work when training camp opens in St. Joseph.
However, the staff is taking a careful approach, not rushing him back into a full-contact situation so he can perform to the best of his ability in September.
Travis Kelce Remains Central To The Offense
The tight end Travis Kelce was back for his 14th NFL season after signing a $12M contract for a year and took part in mandatory minicamp after missing voluntary spring sessions.
Reid believes Kelce remains focused on the team's performance, even as he prepares for his wedding to Taylor Swift.
Kenneth Walker adds burst to the backfield
New running back Kenneth Walker III showed strong acceleration and sharp cut moves during minicamp.
His ability to change direction stood out across day 2 performance on the field. The Chiefs used him in space situations, where he looked comfortable making defenders miss.
It was one of the clearest signs that the run game could have a new edge this season, after struggling last season.
Receivers and rookies flash in red-zone work
Multiple pass-catchers scored in red-zone 7-on-7 drills. That group included Jalen Royals, Jason Brownlee, Nikko Remigio, and Kelce, with Mahomes and backup Justin Fields delivering throws in day 2.
On defense, second-year cornerback Nohl Williams made noise with two pass breakups and an end-zone interception on day 1.
The group of young receivers and aggressive defense gave the sessions a competitive feel this season.
