After spending his first four NFL seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, Nazeeh Johnson entered the 2026 offseason as a free agent. Now, fresh reports suggest the cornerback could be taking a step toward joining the reigning NFC North champions.

According to a report by an NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, the former Chiefs cornerback recently visited the Bears.

"Source: Former #Chiefs CB Nazeeh Johnson is visiting the #Bears," Jordan Schultz's X post read on May 20. "Johnson amassed 66 total tackles and one sack during his time in Kansas City and was a key special teamer as well. He also recently met with NYG and PHI."

The 27-year-old has already generated interest around the league. He visited the Philadelphia Eagles on May 4 before later meeting with the New York Giants on May 14.

This addition could be important as the team recently released second-year cornerback Zah Frazier before the minicamp.

Chicago has one starting position on the outside with Tyrique Stevenson, rookie Malik Muhammad, and Terell Smith already competing for the role.

With his early injury concerns, Johnson faced several setbacks during his run for the Chiefs, playing just two games last year. Over four seasons, the cornerback started just six games. Now, he's looking to bounce back in 2026 with a new franchise.

How Injuries Derailed Johnson in Kansas City

The Chiefs drafted Nazeeh Johnson in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Marshall and was a special teams contributor during their run to Super Bowl LVII. He managed eight tackles in 11 regular-season games that year.

But then there was a downfall when Johnson missed the entire 2023 season with a torn ACL. He returned the following year, playing a larger role for the Chiefs' defense. In 16 games, Johnson recorded 56 total tackles (three for loss), one sack, and three pass breakups.

“During the offseason training camp, he earned starting reps at corner and nickel because of his speed. Unfortunately, that trajectory didn’t last. ...Johnson suffered a torn ACL.... It was a disappointing end after a promising start to the offseason,” A to Z Chiefs beat writer Charles Goldman wrote.

With the Chiefs, Johnson amassed 66 total tackles and one sack in three seasons.

After multiple injury setbacks in Kansas City, the Lombardi trophy winner will look to rebuild his career with a fresh start with a new franchise before the season begins.
