The court approved the Kansas City Chiefs' wide receiver's request to continue treatment for his knee after he underwent surgery a week before a judge sentenced him to 30 days in j***.

According to  KCTV 5, Rashee Rice’s lawyer requested two things from the court on May 28, and one of the requests is for permission to transport him to Parkland Hospital to receive therapy on his knee.

Rice underwent knee surgery for his recovery from the injury that he suffered in the  2024 season. The procedure cleared out damaged tissue and debris in his right knee, which will help him in his recovery process.

The other request that Rice's lawyer made is to move him from an isolated jail cell to the general population, so that he can perform movement exercises that will prevent permanent joint stiffness after his knee operation.

Rice is scheduled for release on June 16 and will miss the mandatory team workout at the beginning of June. Light rehabilitation exercises and walking will help him recover faster.

However, head coach Andy Reid said that the team is 'aware' of the situation as well as the'League' and stated that there is no conversation about it, 'anything further.'

Reid also gave the assurance that the team trainer, Rick Burkhold, is in 'contact' with Rice if he needs any help regarding his recovery.

While Rice continues his recovery, his situation could have an impact on the Chiefs moving forward.

Could Chiefs Consider Moving On From Rashee Rice?

Rashee Rice is one of the Kansas City Chiefs' most talented offensive players, but talent alone may no longer be enough to save his future with the team.

According to KC Kingdom, the Chiefs should consider exploring a trade involving Rice before the 2026 season. The receiver room lacks depth behind Rice, but his repeated off-field issues have raised concerns for the team.

The NFL suspended Rice for six games last season, and according to the NFL Personal Conduct Policy, the league could fine or suspend Rice this season as well.

Rice is in the final contract this year, and using the team’s tag next offseason could cost the Chiefs more than $30 million for a single season.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs drafted Jalen Royals to fill Rice's role in his absence last season, but he suffered from knee tendinitis in training camp that limited his regular season. However, in this season, WR Royals is completely healthy and has participated well in OTAs. Even Andy Reid praised his participation while speaking to the media.

"With Rashee (Rice) not here, it gives Jalen (Royals) some great reps at the wide receiver position," said Reid. "He's strong – he looks strong out here and (is) running well and that whole deal."

What do you think will be the decision of the Chiefs regarding the Rice situation? Let us know!
