Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice continues to face growing questions around his future following his latest off-field situation. While concerns around his long-term availability and reliability remain a talking point, an NFL analyst believes that his production merits him staying.
During a recent discussion on the Arrowhead Addict OG Hour podcast, host Patrick Allen and analyst Adam Best discussed Rice's future with the Chiefs. While both acknowledged concerns around Rice's situation, Best argued that Kansas City currently lacks enough depth at wide receiver to comfortably move on from him.
"From like a just wide receiver production standpoint, cutting him doesn't make sense," Adam Best said. "If he's there, he's probably your best receiver and you can use him for the rest of the season."
Though Rice only featured in eight games last season, his production was still solid. The receiver averaged 10.8 yards per reception with 53 receptions, totaling 571 yards.
The discussion came after renewed attention around Rice's latest controversy. During the podcast, the speakers discussed that Rice reportedly faced a probation violation tied to his previous case.

Best continued by explaining that Kansas may not be in a position to move on from Rice immediately. He pointed toward the team's current lack of depth at wide receiver and suggested that the Chiefs may have to balance football needs with the issues surrounding Rice off the field.
"He costs you nothing," Adam Best continued. "If he shows up on the field and plays to his capabilities, he's your absolute best option in terms of receivers that you could add right now...they didn't draft anybody because they didn't go after anybody in free agency.”
Though Best spoke about Kansas not drafting any receivers in this year's NFL draft, Cyrus Allen was a fifth-round pick (overall no. 176).
While Rice's off-field situation has created concerns, the panel suggested that the Chiefs' current roster limitations could make football decisions more complicated than simply moving on from a talented player.
While the discussion focused on whether the Chiefs should keep Rice, recent reports also could give a better idea of the team's plans for his future.
Adam Schefter Reveals Chiefs' Current Stance on Rashee Rice's Future
According to Matt Johnson's Sportsnaut piece published on Wednesday, May 27, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter recently discussed Rashee Rice and the Chiefs' approach on his podcast.
He said Kansas City reportedly has no plans to work on a contract extension with Rice at this time.
"What I think of here is the opportunity that he is squandering," Schefter said in the Sportsnaut piece. "If Rashee Rice were a clean player with no off-the-field issues, with no injuries, we'd be talking about a new contract this offseason in excess of $40 million a year."
As discussions around Rashee Rice's future continue, Kansas City could face some important decisions moving forward. How the receiver performs, both on and off the field, will be crucial in the 2026 season.
