The Kansas City Chiefs' wide receiver Xavier Worthy shares a deep bond with Rashee Rice, which reflects clearly even after Rice's off-field issues.

Worthy hosted the "Dream B1G: Xavier Worthy Football Camp" through the Worthy 1's Foundation at Southeast High School on Saturday, inspiring 350 children in grades 3 to 8 to build life skills such as confidence and discipline through sports. In a conversation with PJ Green of The Kansas City Star, Worthy was asked about Rice.

"That’s my guy(Rice),” Worthy responded. “I’ve been talking to him every day, so I’m just praying for him.”

Rice will be released on June 16 and will miss all of the Chiefs’ voluntary workouts, with their mandatory three-day minicamp beginning on June 9.

Worthy and Rice have been teammates since 2024. Before Rashee was sentenced to 30 days in j***, the teammates were spotted practicing their golf swings.

Head Coach Andy Reid stated that there would be 'no talk about anything further' regarding the Rice situation. The Chiefs’ WR served a six-game suspension last season, and according to the NFL Personal Conduct Policy, Rice could face a fine or suspension this season as well.

Along with speaking about Rice, the Chiefs receiver opened up about his own journey back to full health during OTAs.

What Xavier Worthy Said About His Recovery Progress During OTAs

Kansas City continues its offseason work with extra attention on the health of its receiving group.

According to Heavy.com, Xavier Worthy participated in OTA activities with restrictions while continuing his recovery.

The Chiefs are dealing with uncertainty at wide receiver due to Rashee Rice's absence because of his off-field issues. Worthy's progress has become important for the team. And, A-to-Z Sports Kansas City reporter Charles Goldman presents his insight on Worthy on May 27.

“If you’ll recall, Worthy suffered a labrum injury in Week 1 of last season after colliding with Travis Kelce on a routine play in Brazil,” Goldman said. ” He played the entire 2025 NFL season with the injury before having surgery to repair it in January. That’s in addition to an ankle injury he suffered in Week 5.”

The receiver spent much of last season managing physical setbacks while continuing to suit up each week. After undergoing a procedure earlier this year, he is now returning to full participation.

“Obviously, this game is 90% mental,”  Worthy added. "So just building my mental up and obviously learning more and more as I get older.”
