The Kansas City Chiefs’ offense still revolves around Patrick Mahomes, who is recovering with consistent rehab.
During the appearance at Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams on Tuesday's episode, running back Kenneth Walker III talked about Mahomes participation before the OTAs that will happen late in May.
“Yeah, it's good. You know, we've (Walker and Mahomes) been working on getting connected in the pass game and everything. " Walker said.
Walker expects a bigger role in the passing game after joining the Chiefs, with increased targets as he builds chemistry with Mahomes and works on route timing.
"So, that's good. I feel like I'll be used more in the pass game, and he is real good at being detailed with the whole team, and yeah, I feel like our chemistry is going to just keep building.”
Walker was mainly a running back with the Seahawks, averaging around 33.25 catches per year over four seasons, but now he is looking at a more balanced dual role. And Mahomes plays an important role in Walker's entry with the Chiefs.
“I feel like it would have had a lot to do with it. You know, he's the best quarterback in the league, so I feel like he got a lot of power in that. So I'm glad he does, because I'm here now.” continued Walker.

Meanwhile, Mahomes has been actively working through his recovery since his injury last December. In March, he attended an indoor practice and took five-step dropbacks before throwing, and on a recent family trip, he brought the team’s trainer to maintain consistency in his training.
But beyond Mahomes’ recovery, analysts see another important gap in the Chiefs’ game.
Analyst Identifies Fix Needed Around Patrick Mahomes’ Game Plan
The Kansas City Chiefs are heading into the offseason with attention on how to support Patrick Mahomes and fix gaps around his game plan.
As per Sporting News, the Chiefs’ offense still carries potential, but there are clear concerns as they prepare for the next season. Mahomes remains the central part, especially after his recovery from a knee injury suffered last year. But at the same time, questions are growing around the strength of his wide receiver group after a disappointing 2025 season.
ESPN analyst Aaron Schatz, in his comments during an offseason discussion, pointed out the need for the Chiefs to strengthen their receiver room to better support Mahomes.
“The top player behind these three receivers is 2025 fourth-round pick Jalen Royals, who had just two catches in his rookie season for 4 yards. The Chiefs also have return specialist Nikko Remigio and fifth-round rookie Cyrus Allen. They really must add a veteran free agent here.”
It remains to be seen what the Chiefs have in store for this problem.
Should the Chiefs be more concerned about depth than just their starters, especially if Mahomes’ receivers struggle during the season? Let us know in the comments.
