The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off a 6-11 season. As the Chiefs' 2026 schedule was released on Thursday, May 14, things don't seem to be getting any easier for them. Between Week 7 and Week 14, they face six grueling road games.
This stretch will be a significant challenge with Patrick Mahomes making his highly anticipated return in the coming season. Last season, they missed out on the playoffs, and Mahomes went down with an ACL injury. But as he returns, he brings hope.
The real test kicks off in Week 7. Andy Reid's Chiefs will be traveling to Lumen Field, facing off against the reigning Super Bowl LX winners, the Seattle Seahawks.
Right after that heavy matchup, the Chiefs stay on the road in Week 8 to battle a strong 15-4 Denver Broncos squad with Sean Payton at the helm in their own backyard.
Things ease up a bit after Denver. The Chiefs face the New York Jets at home in Week 9. And while the Jets made three 1st round picks in the NFL Draft 2026, they still have a lot of areas to improve coming off a 3-14 season.
Next up, the Chiefs head to Atlanta to play the Falcons in Week 10 and host the Cardinals in Week 11. But that's it. These three matchups are Mahomes and co.'s last easy ride.
The remaining tough three road games stretch includes the Buffalo Bills in Week 12, the Los Angeles Rams in Week 13, and the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 14.
As reported by analyst PJ Green of The Kansas City Star, the team will travel 18,401 miles and go through 26 time-zone changes, according to data collected by betting site Bookies.com.
The Chiefs are not scheduled for an international game this season after making two overseas appearances in the past three years, including one in Brazil last year. Instead, their toughest travel stretches feature road games in Seattle, Los Angeles, Miami, and Las Vegas.
Kansas City received the schedule as they face a quarterback dilemma.
The Ultimate Quarterback Trio the Chiefs Face on the Road
The final three away games of this 8-game mid-season stretch are against three quarterback heavyweights. This is also the time when the playoff race across the divisions intensifies.
As Mahomes works his way back from an ACL injury, his rivalry with Bills quarterback Josh Allen remains evenly matched. Since both became NFL starters in 2018, they have split 10 meetings with five wins apiece.
After Buffalo, there will be no respite. Week 13 sends Kansas City out west to face the Rams. Going up against Matthew Stafford and Sean McVay's offense keeps the pressure on Mahomes and the Chiefs.
Facing the Bengals' Joe Burrow away from home means playing three elite quarterbacks back-to-back-to-back.
"If the LSU product can stay upright, it’s the Bengals best shot at reaching the Super Bowl since Burrow led them there after the 2021 season," wrote analyst Eric Williams.
It is a make-or-break stretch that will definitely define the Kansas City Chiefs' entire comeback season.
