The Kansas City Chiefs are working to build a stronger roster to protect Patrick Mahomes for the upcoming season, especially after his (first major) ACL injury against the Los Angeles Chargers last year.
The Chiefs' rookie minicamp will be from May 1 - 2, where players will compete for a spot on the roster. As per NFL insider Mike Garafolo, who tweeted about a player accepting an invitation.
"Florida State OT Micah Pettus has accepted an invite to the Chiefs rookie camp. A chance to make an impression for a roster spot in KC.” Garafolo wrote on his X post.
Pettus could help Patrick Mahomes by improving pass protection on the right side of the Chiefs' offensive line. Being 6-foot-7, weighing 349 pound offensive tackle has recently played for the Florida State Seminoles.
Before that, Pettus played at the Ole Miss Rebels for three years (2022 -2024).
The 23-year-old started 40 games in two of the toughest conferences in college football and faced strong defensive players regularly.
During the 2025 season, he showed dominance in pass protection, handling stunts and blitzes with awareness and balance. This earned him a 70.4 run blocking and 74.6 blocking grade.
But he is not the only one the Chiefs have eyed for the minicamp invite.
Another Player Gets Chiefs Minicamp Invite
Defensive lineman Keaten Wade is set to join the Kansas City Chiefs' rookie minicamp after going undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft, earning a chance to compete for a roster spot.
According to Buffalo Wire, Wade has received a rookie minicamp invite from the Chiefs, allowing him to impress the coaching staff led by defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.
If he performs well during these early sessions, he could get an opportunity to go forward into offseason programs and get his place in the roster.
Wade was invited after a good college career with the Kentucky Wildcats and Colorado Buffaloes. In his final season, he started all 12 games and recorded 46 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks, with a forced fumble.
Before transferring to Colorado, he played at Kentucky, where he built early experience of 23 solo tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss.
Who do you think will get a spot in the Chiefs roster next year? Let us know!
