During an appearance on the 3 & Out podcast with host John Middlekauff, head coach Andy Reid explained why the Chiefs' offense will pick up pace this season with Kenneth Walker III.

“I'm not telling you we're going to lead the league in rushing, but I know we've got a good offensive line, and he's a good running back," Reid said on Friday. “He'll come out of the season knowing that he's run the ball a few times, I'm sure.”

Last season with the Seattle Seahawks, Walker recorded 221 rushing attempts for 1,027 yards and an average of 4.6 yards per carry, earning the Super Bowl LX MVP title along the way.

Reid also shed light on why the Chiefs decided to sign Walker.

“I think you saw, when the other running back got hurt, that he could do everything,” Reid said about Walker. “They were rotating those guys...but you got to see him on third down, catch the football, and in short-yardage, goal-line, and red-zone. So, you got that whole package there, and he did it all and did it well.”

The Chiefs really struggled with their rushing corps last season, ranking 25th in rushing attempts and yards (106.5 yards per game). So, that's where Walker can help.

During the NFC divisional round, RB Zach Charbonnet suffered a knee injury in the playoffs. Walker stepped up and carried the load for Seattle's offense.

He rushed for 116 yards and three touchdowns against the 49ers. Walker's speed at the line of scrimmage was 13.51 miles per hour.

That said, as Kansas City looks ahead to the new season, the chance of a possible reunion with a former Chiefs cornerback continues to grow.

Andy Reid Knows Exactly What L'Jarius Sneed Brings to the Table

The team hosted CB L'Jarius Sneed for a visit, but they have not announced a deal so far.

Sneed spent four seasons in Kansas City before joining the Tennessee Titans in 2024. Injuries limited him to just 12 games across two seasons in Tennessee before the Titans released him this offseason.

According to Sports Illustrated's Joshua Brisco, Sneed could help first-round pick Mansoor Delane as he begins his NFL career.

"Sneed could provide excellent veteran mentorship to Delane, as Sneed has played more snaps for defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo than the rest of KC's current cornerback room combined,” Brisco wrote on Sunday. "But he wouldn't be derailing the trajectory of the Chiefs' top pick."

The Chiefs remember Sneed as the one who helped the team make a deep playoff run in 2024. In the AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens, Sneed performed an important play late in the fourth quarter by forcing a fumble from wide receiver Zay Flowers before he crossed the goal line.

How do you think Reid will balance his decision to make his offense and defense stronger before the 2026 season kicks off? Let us know!
