Head Coach Andy Reid believes Kenneth Walker III can bring something different to the Chiefs' offense this season, especially with what he can do beyond running the football, according to NFL Insider Dan Graziano's X post.

“We have had good running backs here throughout the years,” Reid explained. “Kenneth Walker is a very good player, and we knew that after watching what he had done in Seattle. However, he can catch the ball and do it very well. He may be doing more of that here than ever did with the Seahawks.” 

Reid believes Walker can do more than just run the football and expects him to have a bigger role in the passing game than he did with the Seattle Seahawks, as per Dan Graziano's X post.

Walker spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks. Now with Kansas City, Reid believes the Chiefs can use him differently by giving him more chances in the passing game, according to Steve Silverman of ClutchPoints Report.

However, Walker still showed he could contribute as a receiver during his time with the Seahawks. In 2025, the running back rushed for 1,027 yards and five touchdowns while averaging 4.6 yards per carry.

Walker also added 31 catches for 282 yards, supporting Reid's belief that he can play a bigger role in Kansas City's offense. 

If Walker takes on a bigger role as a receiver this season, he could give the Chiefs something new on offense. Reid's comments suggest the Chiefs have bigger plans for him this season. 

While Reid shared his thoughts, Walker also explained the approach behind his running style.

Speaking at the press conference after the Chiefs' July 29, 2026, training camp practice at Missouri Western State University, Walker explained how his running style developed over the years and why he believes it can fit well in Kansas City's offense. 

"I would just believe over the years running the ball since growing up, and just working with my pops, just seeing the defense is I believe that's how I really learned how to be patient or, you know, explosive. It just depends on what the play is, honestly," said Walker. "I feel like that helps the O-Line…whatever they need me to do, that's what I'm gonna do." 

Walker is expected to play an important role in Kansas City's offense this season as Patrick Mahomes works his way back into rhythm.

The running back already showed what he can do on the biggest stage with the Seattle Seahawks, earning Super Bowl LX MVP honors with 135 rushing yards on 27 carries, along with 26 receiving yards. 

Walker made it clear that he is focused on helping the team in any role. As training camp continues, the Chiefs will get a better idea of how his running style fits into their offense.
