Andy Reid Almost Confirmed What Chiefs Will Do at NFL Draft 2026

Mar 30, 2026, 2:00 PM CUT

While most NFL fans are debating which edge-rusher and wide receiver the Chiefs should draft in 2026 with their two first-round picks, Andy Reid thinks there might not be a need to reinforce either position in a recent interview.

"We drafted a good kid (Nohl Williams) last year, so I know we'll continue to work through that this year," Reid said during an interview with Judy Battista. "I'm really not worried about it. I look forward to seeing who these people are that come in."

Reid mentioned that he will not force an edge rusher addition before even noting that the roster is "in a better position than most teams" at wide receiver. Most free agents are gone from the team, making the upcoming draft their best chance to rebuild.

Reid's latest confessions almost disclose a very different NFL draft strategy than what most were expecting. Unless, this is a ploy of course.

The Kansas City Chiefs hold nine picks in this year’s draft, including two in the first round at No. 9 and No. 29, but the needs run deeper than the secondary.

Even after adding Kenneth Walker III and Alohi Gilman, the roster still lacks a true passing punch.

Since Tyreek Hill’s departure, the offense has managed to survive, but without a consistent 1,000-yard receiver, it has yet to fully replace its most dangerous weapon.

Before this, the last time the Chiefs had a top-ten draft pick was almost a decade ago when they drafted Patrick Mahomes. With that kind of pressure, various options remain for their pick.

Options for an Overall No. 9 Draft Pick for the Chiefs

The 2026 NFL draft is going to happen from April 23 to 25 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The event hits Point State Park and Acrisure Stadium. That is where Kansas City will finalize its lineup.

On Saturday, March 28, the Chiefs used social media to give a hint. The team shared footage of Clemson offensive tackle Blake Miller. The post told followers to "keep an eye out." Interestingly, they are watching him.

At the NFL combine, Miller ran the 40-yard dash in 5.04 seconds. In his college career, he logged 808 offensive snaps, allowed two sacks, and earned a pass-blocking grade of 81.6 from PFF.

Other than Miller, various projections have also projected the Chiefs to go for either David Wiley or Rueben Bain Jr. as their edge rusher. In the receiver department, they could land Carnell Tate or Jordyn Tyson.
