With the US hosting the FIFA World Cup, there is already enough debate about the grass field and artificial turf. Amid the discussions, the Kansas City Chiefs crowd received praise from former soccer star Alex Morgan.
She was on the New Heights podcast on June 20, accompanied by Kelley O'Hara, and shared her experience of enjoying the 2026 FIFA World Cup games. Having played in Kansas City herself, Morgan broke silence on how the crowd is now.
"The fans weren't hyped up enough than they are now," said Morgan, "Like that game, I think it turned everyone into fans. Like we're turning on all the games, or we're watching the US win here."
Morgan's take on the podcast came after over 65,000 fans took the journey to the stadium to watch Argentina take on Algeria on Tuesday, June 16, as reported by YahooSports.
"I was in Kansas City Power and Light District, and we got Kansas City fans in here," added O'Hara," Kansas City knows how to party. Very much so."

Kansas City has built a reputation for being loud. The Fan Fest, which included watch parties across the city, saw people celebrating in numbers. Local reports described the city as “rocking” after the win, with chants and celebrations filling downtown KC.
What began as a festive atmosphere in Argentina’s World Cup opener briefly turned uneasy. Algeria hit on the break, with Farès Chaïbi finishing a move set up by Ibrahim Maza to beat Emiliano Martínez. The largely Argentine crowd of 69,045 at Kansas City Stadium was suddenly silenced.
But Messi ultimately scored three goals in the 3-0 win over Algeria and thanked the crowd later.
"First of all, I thank them, because they've proven once again that Argentina is an exceptional case," Messi said. "They've filled the stadium again. I don't know if there were 80,000 spectators or more!"
Morgan understands the frenzy as she has experienced it firsthand with the US team. She is a two-time World Cup winner herself(2015 and 2019). The striker also has nine World Cup goals to her name.
Meanwhile, City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has a demand for the US crowd in general.
Jason and Travis Kelce want U.S. Soccer chants to be better
Every country has its own chant in soccer that makes it distinct. The Kelce brothers weren't particularly impressed with American chants. They felt the fans in the US lacked the passion compared to those in other countries.
"I do remember distinctly thinking how much better [at] watching soccer Brazilians were than Americans," said Jason as per PFSN," You go to the World Cup as an American, they’re like, ‘I believe that we can win! I believe that we can win!...’ That is the f******* most loser mentality chant I have ever heard in my entire life"
Curious about this discovery, Travis asked his brother about the Brazilian chant.
“I don’t remember exactly," said Jason, "But they’re saying something like, ‘Chi chi chi! Le le le!...’ They’re better at it than we are."
The madness with the 2026 FIFA World Cup has reached its peak. If Team USA can somehow make it to the quarterfinals or further, the atmosphere at Kansas is bound to be palpable.
